Chicology Kicks Off Unique Charity to Add Comfort and Beauty to Local Organizations; La Puente School is First Recipient
CHIC Charity
Chicology, a leading developer of window blinds and shades, has launched a company-sponsored charity called CHIC (Chicology Helping to Improve Communities). Our two goals for CHIC are to improve the work environment of local community-oriented organizations and inform employees and families of the benefits and affordability of window treatments.
We chose this way to give back to local organizations after walking through many local neighborhoods and visiting various community resource locations. We were shocked to see many buildings with broken, damaged, and unsafe blinds.
When blinds are neglected, they lose their essential function – to control and filter the light to create a comfortable shaded environment. They become immovable walls that block out the light completely – all day, every day. What’s more, window blinds are an essential backdrop to our décor; a tarnished blind becomes an eye sore to the whole room. Lastly, and most importantly, damaged blinds can be unsafe, especially for children and pets, due to cords becoming easily tangled.
Broken window blinds
Shades, blinds and shutters can also conserve energy. Closed shades, blinds and shutters provide insulation against outdoor cold and heat, reducing the need for energy-hungry central heating or air conditioning. These window treatments are much more affordable than extra insulation, allowing consumers to easily become more eco-friendly and reduce their carbon footprint.
We’re also adding content to our website that explains how to upgrade existing window treatments and make them safer for homes with children and pets. We’re also giving you easy maintenance tips, and how to choose the best treatments for your needs, tastes, and budget. And we’re always available to answer any questions or concerns you have about our assorted types of blinds and shades.
First CHIC Project
In July 2018, we replaced 18 old sets of blinds at New Montessori School in La Puente with new custom faux blinds. This $1,000 donation allowed the school to better use their financial resources for quality child education and development.
The school’s blinds were in poor condition. They were cracked, broken and, in many cases, non-operational. Dimming the rooms for rest time was nearly impossible and deterred the quality of much-needed breaks in the children’s days. During the hottest periods of the year, the sunlight couldn’t be adequately blocked to keep the interior naturally cool and pleasant. On cloudy days, the flow of natural light into the building was inadequate.

The new blinds revitalized the classrooms' appearance and learning environment. The kids were excited about the facelift and how it made their classrooms more comfortable. “We are very pleased with the look, color, and function of our new window blinds,” commented School Administrator Jennifer.

Safe and Stylish Window Blinds
Our expert staff of designers and installers carefully analyzed the school’s needs. Safety and function were our top concerns but we also considered aesthetics, both in the classrooms and on the building’s exterior. We agreed that window coverings with cord cleats and short cords were preferable to provide optimum safety and protection for all the young students. We also made recommendations on the maintenance and longevity of certain styles to ensure the treatments would last for many years.
Next CHIC Charity Project
Chicology’s next charitable project was the Animal Shelter in Baldwin Park. See how CHIC’s contributions brightened up the lives of creatures great and small.
